A major tourist boulevard in Barcelona was evacuated on Monday after a suspicious package was found on a bus but the incident turned out to be a false alarm.
A Catalonia government official earlier said that an investigation was ongoing after an item was found in the Las Ramblas area.
Photos and videos circulating on social media showed tourists and residents rushing from the area.
The area has since been reopened to the public.
It comes after 15 people were killed in a terror attack in the same area on Thursday, which saw a van plough into the crowd.
