300-thousand people have gathered in Hong Kong to call for an end to recent violence. They're concerned about clashes breaking out during protests over the suspended fugitive offender's bill. 70 community leaders organized the rally which included politicians, celebrities and academics. Let's hear what they say.
LAWRENCE MA CHUNG-LAI, HONORARY CHAIRMAN THE CHINESE GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, HONG KONG "I believe Hong Kong will have a bright future. Our Greater Bay Area is seeing great development, and there will be more opportunities. It is wrong to say there won't be any opportunity. I think Hong Kong will have more opportunities in the future, and it will prosper. We hope our government can take our youngsters to the Greater Bay Area, and introduce it to them because a lot of young Hong Kong people haven't been to other parts of the Greater Bay Area before."
RESIDENT "I'm here to support the government and support the police for the sake of justice. Hong Kong police officers are being as responsible as they can for democracy, freedom and the welfare of the Hong Kong residents."
RESIDENT "The Hong Kong police are very good. I think they are the best in the world. I've been living here for many years. We hate violence. Actually, we seldom talk about politics, we just want a peaceful and stable life. But the rioters have destroyed our life, so we must stand out to say that we love peace and we don't want violence."
