A new business model is expected to reshape the health care system in China with private hospitals and insurance companies working together to improve the process of receiving treatment.
CiMing Group, one of China’s leading health management companies, recently opened a private hospital in Boao county in south China's Hainan Province, in which the new health care model will be tested in partnership with health checkup service provider Cncare and a consortium of insurers.
“Insurance companies would provide the hospital with consumers’ information, and enhance the hospital’s payment system, while the hospital provides treatment for insurers' clients. This is an innovation for connecting insurance companies and hospitals,” said Han Xiaohong, founder of Ciming Group.

The pilot model gives doctors malpractice insurance – something sorely needed to reduce the incidences of violence against medical practitioners.
“If we ask doctors to be fully committed to their duties, they need insurance. We are trying to set up an intra-doctor platform, where doctors buy themselves insurance to guard against possible medical disputes,” Han said.
Meanwhile, co-founder of Cncare Geng Junqiang said the new model is also a patient-centered approach, as services for medical information, training and supporting systems will also be provided.
The trial operation of CiMing international hospital began in 2013, when the State Council approved a tourism medical pilot zone in Boao county.
With less red tape, it has become more convenient to import foreign medicine and medical equipment. Currently there are more than 20 projects under construction.
