The curtain was raised in Hong Kong on Sunday for this year's InnoTech Expo, which introduces past and present achievements in science and technology of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
InnoTech Expo 2017 runs from September 24 to October 2 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in the hope of inspiring young people to enter the field.
With the theme "Displaying China's Civilization of Technology and Its Latest Innovation," nearly 130 exhibits are showcased at the event, 28 of them are ancient inventions, said Our Hong Kong Foundation, the organizer of the InnoTech Expo 2017.
Among the five exhibition areas of the expo, three are themed as “Sky,” “Information” and “Sea”.

Just as the name implies, the “Sky” area exhibits accomplishments in astronomy, such as a model of China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), the largest radio telescope in the world, which is about to celebrate its first completion anniversary on September 25.
At the “Information” zone, guests are able to unveil the mysteries of the Chinese multiplication table, the world's fastest super computer and intelligent vehicles.
Marine-related inventions such as the first compass “Si Nan” and a model of China’s aircraft carrier are showcased in the “Sea” section.
The other two exhibition areas are “Glory of Hong Kong,” which demonstrates local innovations, and “Science Interactive,” which brings guests closer to science and technology through means like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
The InnoTech Expo is now in its second year. First held in 2016, the event attracted about 70,000 people. The organizer is expecting 100,000 guests this year, news.163.com reported.
