China's top legislature adopted landmark amendments to the country's constitution on Sunday. The amendments enshrined Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the constitution and listed national supervisory commission as a new state organ. So how did NPC deputies react to the amendments, and how do they evaluate the revision process? Our reporter Zou Yun has the story.
The support for revisions to the Constitution was nearly unanimous.
WANG XIAOMEI NPC DEPUTY "Our world has changed so much. Our country and our society have changed so quickly, and everything must be suitable for it. So it's very natural in our political life."
According to NPC deputies, the amendments not only take into account the changing needs of the Chinese society, but also echoes the aspirations of the Communist Party and the Chinese people.
HUANG XIAOJUN NPC DEPUTY "As a grass-roots NPC deputy, I think the amendments preserve the continuity, stability, and authority of the constitution. It also reflects the desires of the Communist Party and the people."
Liu Shoumin is an NPC deputy and has been a lawyer for more than 30 years now. Liu said that as the fundamental law of the state, the constitution has the faith and future of the country on its shoulders. He said the government followed through on its promise to make no drastic revisions, and that the amendments reflect the advancement of China's governance.

I think the approach to the amendments was sound, proactive, and came with great wisdom, reflecting the high-level capability of China's leadership."
