China welcomes the improvement in its relations with Japan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday, as the two countries celebrate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship.
He made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing on the sidelines of the first session of the 13th National People's Congress, answering questions on China's foreign policy and external relations.
Wang said China and Japan should see each other as partners, not threats, and cement a political foundation of peace and friendship between the two countries.
With the steady improvement of bilateral relations, high-level visits between China and Japan will naturally be realized, he noted.
