An open air music festival is taking place at Duolun County, some 300 kilometers north of Beijing, giving audiences a chance to unwind from the frenetic pace of city life.
The musicians are confident this open-air festival in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will establish a new trend for live music in China.
“It's a musical celebration as well as a celebration of local cultural heritage," said He Mingjian, deputy director of Duolun County. "Mongolian people have a rich musical tradition like Hoomei, the Mongolian throat singing, and the long-tuned folk songs."
"And at this festival, you can see all that and much more. We want to combine music with local tourism, so visitors can enjoy great music and intimate experience at the prairie," he added.

Music might be a good reason to visit Duolun, but you would likely find even more reasons to stay. Children's workshops, master music classes, and interactive art activities have also been introduced this year.
The music extravaganza runs until August 27 in Duolun County.
