The 12th Senior Officials Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) opened in Beijing on Thursday morning. The China-Africa cooperation features equality, mutual trust, mutual complementarity and win-win results, and has provided a rare opportunity for Africa's development.
Africa's economy is largely based on commodities and vast natural resources. But in order to diversify a stronger economy, useful skills and a good education system are essential. African countries believe China has the ability and willingness to help develop and strengthen the continent's integration.
Professor Anil Sooklal, Director-General for Asia and the Middle East for South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation, said the South African Coordinating Forum on China-Africa Cooperation indicated each country has its own distinctive approach to the cooperation of FOCAC. Member states have varied internal processes and different domestic interests. There is one thing that has remained unchanged – China unwavering supports Africa's development.
He said China has consistently demonstrated its commitment to Africa by prioritizing the development needs and proactively searching for the solutions to the obstacles and challenges that faced the continent.
