Massive Thai-US military exercises, called Cobra Gold 2018, are underway in eastern Thailand. The 10-day drills are scheduled to run until February 23rd. A total of 11,000 troops from Thailand, the US, Japan, South Korea, and other countries are participating. Myanmar is not taking part, amid criticism over the Rohingya crisis. Anti-terrorism and mine-sweeping missions are included in the exercises, along with six warships, 34 amphibious vehicles and 86 aircraft. The drills were first held in 1982 and are the biggest of its kind in the Asia-Pacific.
