China's Political Season: World leaders congratulate Xi Jinping on election

World leaders continue to send messages of congratulations on Xi Jinping's election as president of the People's Republic of China, and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to President Xi Jinping for his renewed presidency. He hopes Germany and China have a close and friendly relationship.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said, the comprehensive strategic partnership has created a stable cooperative framework across a number of fields. She said she would like to deepen the Sino-German cooperation and to promote further development in the Sino-German strategic partnership.
Finland President Sauli Niinisto said the two countries laid out a cooperative plan in various fields during Xi's state visit in April 2017. Recently, the two sides have been negotiating a plan for a new type of cooperative partnership. Niinisto believes this plan will be a guide for pragmatic cooperation and help promote bilateral cooperation.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said he firmly believes President Xi would work consistently for the benefits of the country in the new era. He added that he would love to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership along with China. He extended his best wishes to the Chinese people.
Chile President Sebastian Pinera said Xi's election proves Xi's prominent leadership and that he holds the trust of the Chinese people. He believes, the Sino-Chilean comprehensive strategic partnership and friendly cooperation will be further expanded, and bring about happiness and benefits to the two peoples.
