It's not a video game.
The controller built for Microsoft's Xbox gaming console is also used to control a real-life attack submarine of the US Navy.
The controller is installed on the USS Colorado, which was commissioned on Saturday.
The gaming gadget is used to control the "photonic mast" of the submarine. If the US Navy description is too hard to understand, it's the eye of the boat – a modern, techy replacement of the classical periscope.
Why does the US Navy see Xbox joystick as a good way to operate the mast?
As explained to AP by Reed Koepp, the commander of the boat, Xbox controller is cheap in price and is familiar to young sailors.
That means it's a cost-saving move that can also cope with the habits of new soldiers.
It is the first video game controller used on a US Navy submarine, as reported on the Navy's website.
