China Banking Sector: Analyst says banks will try more innovative funding
[]
Meanwhile, we might see more private placements among China's commercial banks in the future. Banking regulators on the same day released a document on encouraging innovative funding channels for banks. So how could the Agriculture Bank's massive fundraising plan impact China's capital market? What will banks' funding be like in the future? Dong Ximiao, a researcher from Renmin University of China, gave some answers.
DONG XIMIAO, SENIOR FELLOW CHONGYANG INSTITUTE FOR FINANCIAL STUDIES, RENMIN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA "Private placements are considered an additional funding channel outside of the capital market. They raise money from existing shareholders and certain institutes, instead of from the parallel market. So the Agriculture Bank's move will not harm the stock market."
