A helicopter that was battling forest fires in Viseu, northern Portugal crashed on Sunday, Portuguese Lusa News Agency reported.
The helicopter crashed in Castro Daire, Viseu, some 320 km north of Lisbon, around 1:00 p.m. local time.
The Mayor of Castro Daire Fernando Carneiro and Fire Commander Paulo Almeida have confirmed the accident.
It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties.
Local media reported that one pilot was killed, but there has been no official confirmation so far.
