Egypt has embarked on a massive campaign for the Director General’s position with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The North African country has handed in the candidature of Moushira Khattab for that position, with a total of nine contenders gunning for the job.
Khattab is a former Vice President of the International Bureau for Children’s Rights.

Many Arab countries have pledged to support Egypt’s nominee, enhancing her chances of winning in the October election.
“Some countries have declared their support for the Egyptian candidate. The announcement was made on their own volition. India is amongst them," Mohamed al Oraby, Khattab’s campaign manager said. "There are more nations that support us fully, although they haven’t made it public. They include countries from Asia, Europe, and Africa.”
