Three people from Taiwan died and two others remain unaccounted for after Tuesday’s earthquake that killed at least 273 people in central Mexico, China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday.
At a daily news briefing, ministry spokesperson Lu Kang expressed condolences to the relatives of the three Taiwanese who died.
“The Chinese Foreign Ministry and Chinese Embassy in Mexico will continue to pay attention to the disaster and offer help to Chinese citizens,” Lu said.
According to a release from the national civil protection agency, a total of 137 deaths occurred in the capital Mexico City, where nearly 40 buildings collapsed.
