The Chinese Ministry of Commerce addressed trade friction between the US and China ahead of US President Donald Trump's November visit at the general press conference on Thursday.
The Ministry of Commerce said Wilbur Ross, America's commerce secretary, will accompany Trump during his visit to China. The US official will attend economic and trade events in China. Beijing is now in close communication with Washington and hopes the two sides can find common ground during Trump's visit.
CGTN raised the question why China on October 16, launched the anti-dumping investigation into hydriodic acid made in the US and Japan before Trump’s visit.
“This is just a normal trade remedy case, which was launched as a response to the industry’s filing in China. We will abide by China’s related laws and regulations and the World Trade Organization’s rules in the investigation,” responded Gao Feng, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Gao continued, “We believe economic and trade relations between China and the US are not competitive, but mutually beneficial. Meanwhile, as the two largest economies in the world, trade friction and divergence are inevitable. We would like to carry out the principle of mutual respect and mutual benefits, and manage differences properly through communication and consultation."
