India and Iran have signed nine agreements during a three-day visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to India. The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in security, trade and investment, and energy. They also discussed regional dynamics. CGTN's Ravinder Bawa has more.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani received a ceremonial welcome as he arrived in New Delhi. The President Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi both greeted him. PM Modi said India-Iran ties have strengthened under Mr. Rouhani's leadership.

India and Iran signed nine agreements related to easing visa rules and cooperation on medical sector, apart from a maritime agreement on Chabahar Port development. The other Memorandum of Understandings had to do with double taxation avoidance, extradition, agricultural cooperation and port lease. Discussions between the two leaders also revolved around the threats posed by terrorism and drug trafficking.
HASSAN ROUHANI IRANIAN PRESIDENT "We agreed on the need for security in Afghanistan and we decided to develop our cooperation in this regard. We also shared views on Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. We believe that regional conflicts must be resolved through diplomacy and political solutions. Both sides attach great importance to combating extremism and terrorism."
The Iranian leader also met Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj during this visit. This was his first visit to India after he was elected Iran's President in 2013. Ravinder Bawa, Delhi.
