Films from 17 countries to feature in 12th Rome Film Fest

A total of 36 films from 17 countries will screen in the official selection of the 12th Rome Film Festival, running from October 26 to November 5, organizers announced Tuesday.
The festival kicked off with the opening movie "Hostiles" by US director Scott Cooper, described as an unconventional Western starring Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike.
Also from the United States is the comedy "Logan Lucky" by veteran filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, who has an Oscar, a Palme d'Or from Cannes, and many other awards under his belt.

Making its world premiere in Rome will be "Maria by Callas," a French documentary released on the 40th anniversary of the legendary opera singer's death in 1977.
Starring big-name celebrities is "Everything Separates Us," a noir by French director Thierry Klifa in which Catherine Deneuve must take up arms to save the life of her daughter, played by Diane Kruger.
Italy will be represented by two films: "A Private Question" by veteran and multi-award-winning directors Paolo and Vittorio Taviani and "The Place" by Paolo Genovese.
The invited guests this year include famous director David Lynch and novelist Chuck Palahniuk as well as veteran British actors Ian McKellen and Vanessa Redgrave.
