Moving to Europe now. The consumer goods company Unilever said Thursday that it will abandon its London corporate headquarters and make Rotterdam its sole legal home. The move comes as Britain prepares to leave the EU in 2019.
Unilever is Britain's third biggest company and last year announced a review of its dual-headquarters structure. That came after it fended off a 143 billion US dollar takeover offer from Kraft Heinz. Unilever said it would divide its businesses into three divisions with Beauty & Personal Care and its Home Care unit staying in London. Its Foods & Refreshment division will be based in Rotterdam. Unilever said its 7 thousand and 3 hundred workers in the UK would be unaffected by the move and the company will continue to be listed in London, Amsterdam and New York.
