Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir says Riyadh would send troops to Syria. That is, if the U.S.-led coalition were to expand.
ADEL AHMED AL-JUBEIR SAUDI FOREIGN MINISTER "There are discussions regarding the type of, what kind of force needs to remain in eastern Syria and where that force would come from. Those discussions are on-going."
Jubeir said Saudi Arabia has been talking to the US about sending forces into Syria since the beginning of the conflict. Speaking during a news conference with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Riyadh, Jubeir added that Riyadh had previously proposed this idea to former US President Barack Obama. Saudi Arabia has expressed support for Saturday's missile strikes by the United States, Britain and France against alleged chemical weapons facilities in Syria. Iraq and Lebanon condemned the strikes.
