Heavy rainfall has triggered flooding and landslides in the Wufeng Tujia Minority Autonomous County in central China’s Hubei Province, resulting in three power plants being destroyed.
Many other parts of the region also suffered from severe damages caused by the downpours.
In Wufeng, about 10,000 residents have been left without power.
Road traffic has also been affected. Nearly 400 people were forced to evacuate.
Rains have also damaged around 280 hectares of crops, and more than 300 houses. No casualties have been reported, as relief efforts continue.
In several counties of northwest China's Gansu Province, farmers' crops and residents' vehicles were pelted by severe hail, leaving significant damage.
