Many are worried that America's latest protectionist policies could trigger a trade war which might affect global growth. There's also a feeling in the US that China's accession to the World Trade Organization 17 years ago had a negative impact on business there.
"It's a kind of usual arrogance, that people didn't read the history book," said Zhou Hanmin, the vice chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee.
Tian Wei spoke to Zhou Hanmin on this matter.  He has been working on legal issues related to China and the WTO.
"It is not by a single nation to allow China to join the international organization of hundred countries, negotiate with China, Sino-US negotiation was one of that, the trend of trade should be welcome by people, and the phenomenon is, the economic contribution by this nation to international economic development is over 30 percent," said Zhou.
He said China's BRI has also contributed to other countries' development. "In 5 years, we have signed over 100 agreements with the international organization and sovereign states for collaboration and cooperation, and China has invested either by state-owned enterprises or private enterprises over 50 billion US dollars into over a hundred countries."
In addition, he said that China should go with the major trend of globalization and regionalism.
"China is still a member of WTO.  China strongly supports the regional free trade agreements... RCEP, we hope that agreement could be signed by the end of this year."
