Rescue operations for survivors in the earthquake that hit Taiwan's Hualien County have officially ended.
The death toll has climbed to 17, with two more victims from the Chinese mainland confirmed dead on Sunday. 285 others were also injured in the quake. Rescuers have been working for over 100 hours since the magnitude-6.5 quake jolted Hualien late Tuesday night. Heavy machinery will be used to dismantle the 12-story Yun Men Tusi Ti building from the top to clear the ruins and retrieve the bodies of the last two victims. Of the 17 fatalities, nine were from the Chinese mainland, five from Taiwan, two were Canadians and one from the Philippines.
