The EU has urged the UK to clarify its position on key issues in the next round of Brexit talks in late August, EU negotiator Michel Barnier said on Thursday.
"We require this clarification on the financial settlement, citizens’ rights and on Ireland," Barnier said at a press conference with the UK’s Brexit Secretary David Davis after the second round of talks.
Davis and Barnier met to assess the past four days of negotiations.
The two sides had positive dialogue on border issues and recognized the importance of a financial settlement, said Davis
Davis said the talks had been "robust but constructive", but confirmed that the two sides "have different views on how to achieve Brexit."
The next round of talks is scheduled to start on August 28.
