The DPRK is threatening to counter the US if it goes ahead with military drills with South Korea.
They're reportedly to start early next month. Discussions between the two countries are already underway. South Korea officials say the size of the exercises will be the same, but they won't last as long. This weekend, the DPRK said it's willing to talk to the United States without any preconditions. But Pyongyang added it won't beg Washington to talk.
