Chinese President Xi Jinping opens 13th Chinese National Games in Tianjin

The 13th Chinese National Games, billed as China's mini-Olympics, kicked off with a splendid show on Sunday in northern China's Tianjin.
Chinese President Xi Jinping officially opened the games at the ceremony held at the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium.
The National Games, first held in 1959, has attracted teams from all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions this year.

With over 20,000 athletes to compete in the 13-day games, this year's gathering will feature 417 events from 33 sports, including the newly added roller inline hockey and karate.
President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach and President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Prince Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah attended the ceremony.
