China's Political Season: NPC endorses vice premiers, state councillors, ministers

We start with a recap of the day's events at China's annual political gathering. On the second to the last day of the NPC's annual session, a series of appointments were made, including vice premiers, state councillors, and ministers.
At today's meeting, lawmakers approved the premier's nominations for vice premiers and state councillors. After President Xi Jinping signed a presidential decree, Han Zheng, Sun Chunlan, Hu Chunhua and Liu He were appointed vice premiers. Wei Fenghe, Wang Yong, Wang Yi, Xiao Jie, Zhao Kezhi were appointed state councillors. Xiao Jie was also appointed secretary general of the State Council.
As for ministers, some posts remained the same.
For instance, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held on to his post as the nation's top diplomat. Zhong Shan was chosen to stay as Minister of Commerce. and He Lifeng kept his post as head of the National Development and Reform Commission. There were some changes as well. For example, Yi Gang replaced Zhou Xiaochuan as the new head of China's central bank. Liu Kun was picked to be the new finance minister, and Wei Fenghe was named as new defense minister.
