Two Russian submarines fired seven cruise missiles from the Mediterranean at ISIL targets in the eastern Syrian province of Deir al-Zour on Thursday. Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that intelligence showed the missiles hit the targets southeast of Deir al-Zour, destroying a command center, a communications hub, an ammunition depot and an unspecified number of ISIL fighters.
