At his maiden UN speech at UN headquarters in New York, on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump urged UN member states to increase pressure on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to give up its nuclear weapons.
Trump said the world faces destructive threats from rogue states and "terrorists and extremists."
He expressed his gratitude to all countries involved in implementing sanctions on DPRK, including China, but he said more are needed.
He warned that the US may "have no choice but to totally destroy" DPRK unless it backs down from its nuclear position.
Trump also voiced concern about Iran. He called the Iran nuclear deal "one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the US has ever entered into."
"Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States, and I don't think you've heard the last of it," Trump said. "Believe me. It is time for the entire world to join us in demanding that Iran's government end its pursuit of death and destruction."

The speech at the UN address marked Trump’s latest attempt to lay out his "America First" foreign policy, a landmark moment arriving at the eight-month mark of his presidency. He said, as president of the Unites States, he will always put America first.
"As long as I hold this office, I will defend America's interests above all else, but in fulfilling our obligations to our nation, we also realize that it's in everyone's interests to seek the future where all nations can be sovereign, prosperous and secure," he said.
He also called for unity and cooperation among states to create a safer and more peaceful future for everyone.
