The Philippines is granting visas-on-arrival to qualified Chinese nationals to attract more tourists and investors from China, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday.
"BI will be issuing landed visas to nationals from the People's Republic of China (PROC) in a bid to draw more tourists and investors from the world's most populous nation and fastest growing economy," the BI said in a statement.
A landed visa allows a traveler to receive his or her actual visa at the airport of the destination.
The new program opens to Chinese nationals who are:
•Members of tour groups organized by tour operators accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT)
•Businessmen endorsed by local and foreign chambers of commerce and other government agencies
•Athletes
•Delegates to conventions and exhibitions
The length of the stay in the country can range from 30 days to six months. Chinese nationals should file the application at least 10 days before the arrival through  the accredited intermediaries.
