And now we turn our attention to golf. South African golf adventurer, Heinrich du Preez recently set out to better a world record set for the longest journey in a golf cart, all in the name of charity. CGTN's Julie Scheier has the story.

Heinrich du Preez is known as 'the Radical Golfer' and holds many golf related records. As a philanthropist, many of his golfing adventures have been to raise money for those less fortunate. The latest adventure is to better a world record set in 2017, on distance travelled in a golf cart.

HEINRICH DU PREEZ GOLFER "According to the Guinness Book of Records the longest journey with a golf cart is 1,665 kilometres and that was set up by a couple of guys from India they did not play golf so we then decided to break this record and in true South African style we broke the record in five days and we played a round of golf every single day. Our aim is to do 2,000 kilometres to set the bar higher for the next guys who want to break the record."

Travelling 12 hours a day at an average speed of 25 kilometres per hour, the 7-day charity trip took the duo to towns as far as Nelspruit, to Sun City, and back to Johannesburg.

HEINRICH DU PREEZ GOLFER "This is my 41st Guinness World Record attempt and they are all charity driven my wife has a charity called 'golfing for teddies' where she involves the golfing community to collect teddy bears and these teddy bears are handed out to kids who spend Christmas in hospital and the aim with this is to go past golf courses get the public involved get the golf members involved and collect teddy bears."

With two thousand and seven kilometres travelled over seven days, the record for the longest journey in a golf cart, is safely in the bag. But more importantly, 500 teddy bears will soon be on their way to bring joy to many children.
