Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been re-elected for a second term, is calling for unity, but violence continues to break out in opposition strongholds.
In his acceptance speech, the president-elect urged his supporters to embrace their brothers and sisters from the opposition, as they are trying to bridge the gap that opened up during the campaign season.
But the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, has refused to accept the loss. Violence broke out in several areas in the capital city of Nairobi and to the west in Kisumu and Homa Bay.
Acting Interior Minister, Fred Matiang'i, has termed the ensuing chaos as localized, and blamed it on criminal elements.
CGTN's Vauldi Carelse reports that the trouble has been sporadic so far. Kenyans are hoping it is quickly contained so the country can move on.
