An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 hit a town in the Kizilsu Kirgiz Prefecture in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday.

The quake struck at 4:14 p.m. BJT (0814GMT) at a depth of 9 kilometers.

There are no immediate reports of casualties.
