China will never allow chaos and war on the Korean Peninsula, Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations Liu Jieyi said during an UN Security Council emergency meeting on Monday.
Liu also urged all related parties to take “practical measures,” saying issues on the Korean Peninsula must be resolved peacefully.
The UN Security Council on Monday held an emergency meeting in response to the DPRK’s sixth, and most powerful, nuclear test as requests mounted for a new set of tough sanctions to be imposed on Pyongyang.
Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "counts on the Security Council to remain united and take appropriate action" on DRPK, his political affairs chief, Jeffrey Feltman, said.
