China has completed delivery of 5,404 tons of rice to Syria under the Belt and Road Initiative food aid plan, as the humanitarian situation worsens in the war-torn country. Chinese Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjin and Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad on Tuesday signed documents marking the handover of the deliveries at a ceremony in Damascus.
