Now, in sport, defending champions China have defeated Germany 3-0 in the World Team Table Tennis Championships in Sweden. It was China's ninth consecutive title. Germany was the tournament's No.1 seed, and boasted the world's No.2 player Timo Boll, but they had no answer for Team China, which included veterans Ma Long and Xu Xin, as well as the World No.1 Fan Zhendong. Team captain Ma said it was truly a team victory, and that he hoped he could keep his place for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
MA LONG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM MEMBER "From the start of this event, I told myself to ignore any pressure from the outside, and that I should not count how many 3-0 victories I could get, but simply concentrate on every point. Sometimes I even hoped to lose one game, so I could feel a bit of relief. To play against Timo Boll is just like playing against myself. You can only beat him by pure ability. To compete with a player on his level, you can't count on any clever tactics, or unforced errors from him. I believe I did pretty well in the beginning."
LIU GUOZHENG CHINA MEN'S COACH "For me, I need to experience more, and summarize more. This is the first time I served as coach for the World Championships. I did not think too much, but I have a firm belief in our team, that we can win no matter what difficulties there might be."
