We begin with the latest on the escalating tension between the United Kingdom and Russia. Moscow says the UK either failed to protect a Russian national from what it called a "terrorist attack", or Downing Street itself was behind the poisoning of a Russian double agent and his daughter earlier this month.

A Russian foreign ministry official also rejected British claims that the chemical weapon "Novichik" was used to murder the ex-spy. He said a nerve agent would have led to numerous casualties.
