Influenza Outbreak: WHO warns flu activity remains high in many countries
[]
The World Health Organization has warned that influenza is rampant in the northern hemisphere's temperate zone, with a few countries exceeding levels from previous years.
Influenza activity has remained high in Europe. Flu outbreaks have also been reported in the United States, Canada, North Africa, Japan and the Republic of Korea over the past year. The UN health agency estimates that influenza epidemics will result in up to 650-thousand respiratory deaths every year. It says vaccination remains the best prevention.
