Mexico's New President: Lopez Obrador sworn in, vows to fight corruption

For the first time in more than 70 years, Mexico has a leftist president. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was sworn into office on Saturday. He then delivered a sweeping speech to the nation, in which he outlined his plans for governing. CGTN's Franc Contreras reports from Mexico City.
Five months after beating the second-place candidate by 30 percentage points, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador arrived at the Mexican Congress for Saturday's swearing in ceremony with the strongest mandate to govern in Mexican history. Foreign leaders and dignitaries from 28 nations, including China, Bolivia, Venezuela and the United States witnessed Mexico's peaceful transition of power. Mexico's new leader, known by his initials AMLO, received the presidential sash baring the colors of this nation's flag. In his first speech to Mexico's Congress, President Lopez Obrador declared a profound and radical transformation of Mexico.

There was a moment of tension when a leftist lawmaker held up this sign saying that outgoing President Enrique Pena Nieto should face trial. In his speech, President Lopez Obrador tried to calm fears among international investors doing business in Mexico.
