Jordanian King Abdullah II is in Ramallah for talks with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. This is King Abdullah's first visit to the West Bank region in five years, and comes after weeks of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces.
The two leaders were expected to cover the recent developments in the region, amid shared tensions with Israel over the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.
"We discussed all issues of mutual interest and we agreed to form a crisis committee that will continue contacts to evaluate what has happened, the lessons to be learned and the challenges we may face at Al Aqsa Mosque," Palestinian Foreign Minister Reyad Al-Maliki told reporters after the meeting.
