Over in Germany, Dortmund were looking to solidify their Champions League position in the Bundesliga. Peter Stoger's side had won three straight and could go three clear of third place Schalke with a win. But visiting middle-of-the table Augsburg were looking to dash those intentions.
BVB unbeaten in 9 games since Stoger took over for Peter Bosz, and are in front just 16 minutes into the match, as Marco Reus pounces on a clearing attempt that doesn't clear the area. 1-nil.
But the visitors levelled with 17 minutes left to play as Kevin Danso converts his own rebound. The Austrian midfielder follows up his initial shot, after it was stopped by Roman Burki, and taps it home. 1-1. And that is how it ends.
With the result, runner-up Dortmund sit 19 points behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich and only have a one-point cushion over Schalke in third. Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Leverkusen also in the mix.
