A former Chinese official suspected of corruption returned to China and turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday after 16 years on the run abroad, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said.
Hu Yuxing, who headed the housing system reform office in Taiyuan, north China’s Shanxi Province, was wanted on charges of abuse of power and was on a list of China's 100 most wanted fugitives.
He had been living in Australia or New Zealand, according to previous reports.
Hu is the 52nd of the 100 most wanted to be captured or submit to police, according to the CCDI.
