At the HSBC Women’s World Championship, Chinese golfer Feng Shanshan managed to remain world No.1. CGTN's He Weiwei sat down with Feng to talk about her targets for the year and share her insights about China's golfing future.
Is there pressure, being world No.1?
"I started the season very well. Actually I never really think about the No.1 thing, I know that somebody will pass me at some point, but if I play well again, I can retake the No.1."
Do you have any 2018 goals?
"I set two goals, first is to get into the World Golf Hall of Fame, and I need to win one more major to qualify."
"The second goal is a bit funny, I want a hole-in-one in a tournament. I've had about 10 hole-in-ones but none in a tournament. I really want to make it happen this year."
Do you have a role model? I like Karrie Webb

"When I was little, 10 or 11 years old, I was watching LPGA (The Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournaments all the time on TV. At that time Annika Sörenstam and Karrie Webb were fighting for world No.1. I liked the way Karrie was playing, she was so calm."
"I thought if I could play with her, that'd be amazing, and actually I did. I qualified for the LPGA in 2008, and I got to play with her on my rookie year in 2008. She's friendly and takes care of the younger players."
How do you promote golf?
"I don't think of being a role model for others, but I do think if I keep playing well, more people will start playing."
"Golf is a very good sport, as long as you can walk, you can play golf. It doesn't matter if you're 4 or 100 years old. It's probably the only sport that a grandson can play with his grandfather. It's a great sport for your family."
"I believe the Chinese can really play golf, and there'll be more world No.1 players coming out of China."
