The United Nations is ready to help the victims of the earthquakes in China’s Sichuan Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday.
Dujarric also passed on the UN condolences over the earthquake to the Chinese people and government at a press briefing.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the spokesman said the Chinese government has lots of experience in search and rescue, but the UN is still ready to help should the Chinese government requests international assistance.
