Chinese basketball player Ding Yanyuhang has confirmed that he will not be playing in the NBA next season but will stay in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
The 24-year-old made the revelation during an open interview with the media on Wednesday.
"It's been decided. I won't go play in the NBA next season. I don't want to go. I will play in the CBA," Ding said.
Ding was named the CBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in 2017. He played with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2017 NBA Summer League in Orlando, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Though there were reports of the Dallas Mavericks wanting Ding to go to the US for more training and a better chance of winning a contract, Ding said he wanted to fight for the Shandong Hi-Speed Basketball Club, which has already signed contracts with NBA players Ty Lawson and Donatas Motiejūnas.
With three stars in the team, Shandong has become a serious contender for the CBA championship.
