President Xi's speech was positively evaluated by the international community — including the US. Earlier, an expert on international issues, Hong Lin, shared his thoughts on that, emphasizing a win-win outcome when the principle of mutual benefit is followed.
Hong Lin said "President Xi's speech received a positive evaluation from the world. It touched on new policies that will further open up China's economy. The Chinese people have fully utilized reform and opening up since it was put into place forty years ago, becoming a driving force for global economic growth. Central bank governor Yi Gang, had announced the timetable and measures for the opening up of China's financial industry. It shows China always follows through with its pledges. If the US insists on a trade war, it will miss the opportunity of further cooperation and bring involved with China's development. We are glad to see Washington sending positive signals, but we have to watch their next step. We hope the US can understand the situation. It is not acceptable to list prices above the market rate. The global trend of development is more flexible. So a multilateral trading system should be secured, rather than unilateralism. We will be in a win-win situation when we follow the principle of mutual benefit. "
