Meanwhile, China is quickly embracing the 5G technology which is expected to upgrade user experience on mobile phones and largely improve industrial development. CGTN's Han Peng reports.
"Is your signal clear?"
"Very clear. I'm by the riverside in Hongkou District of Shanghai."
A video call between two 5G smartphones.
"It's the first time I'm using 5G."
This historic connection in April made Shanghai's Hongkou District the world's first region covered with 5G network.
HAN PENG SHANGHAI HONGQIAO RAILWAY STATION "Welcome to first train station equipped with 5G technology. If you want to watch a high-resolution movie, you should probably come here."
In Shanghai's Hongqiao railway station, you can download a two-gigabyte high-definition movie onto a 5G smartphone in less than 20 seconds.
And this is the speed when the Wifi is shared by tens of thousands of passengers at the same time.
WANG SHUO HUAWEI 5G MARKETING DIRECTOR "There are a lot of people in a very small area. So that's why we need the 5G to provide much better capacity and user experience. That's the beginning of the scenario for 5G."
HAN PENG SHANGHAI HONGQIAO RAILWAY STATION "Now this small box is a 5G base station designed by Huawei. Its Internet speed can reach a staggering 1.6 gigabyte per second. And Huawei's 5G technology is not only meant for WiFi."
Many global firms are eyeing 5G technology for industrial upgrade. US company General Electric, which has a massive investment in China on medical equipment, says fast Internet can be life-saving.
DAI YING, CHIEF INNOVATION OFFICER GENERAL ELECTRIC HEALTHCARE "Our machines generate a lot of images every day. And if you want to drive the cloud computing, you have to transfer the image to the cloud, and then you rely on the bandwidth and the speed of the Internet a lot. 5G will help a lot and push more computing to the cloud, and will help more customers to land more cloud application to their diagnose process."
But US President Donald Trump's latest executive order might lead to a bleak prospect for US firms.
It bans Huawei's gear from entering the US market, citing national security threats, an allegation Huawei denies.
Huawei says the ban will cause the company little harm, but will slow down the United States in entering the 5G era.
DAVID WANG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, HUAWEI "I can say that our position in this regard is consistent. Our business in the United States is not that big. And due to our global operations, any change in one country has little impact on our global business."
This year, Shanghai will build up over 10,000 5G base stations, which means ordinary residents will soon start to use super-fast internet.
China says the country will complete the commercial use of 5G by next year. Han Peng, CGTN, Shanghai.
