On Saturday, a veterinary team performed a surgery on the tusk of an elephant named "Tantor" that once held by drug traffickers in Colombia. Tantor had his left tusk operated on in Barranquilla. The elephant was administered anesthesia. Erique Guimaraes, the head of the veterinary department at the Barranquilla Zoo, said Tantor had to fast for 48 hours. The elephant arrived at the zoo in 1991 after Colombian authorities rescued it from drug traffickers.
