Officials in the north of Afghanistan said Taliban and ISIL militants jointly massacred dozens of civilians.
In a village of Mirzawalang, in the remote Sayad district of Sar-e-Pul province, fighters reportedly killed more than 50 men, women and children after a two-day battle with a local government-backed militia.
The alleged cooperation between the Taliban and ISIL would be unusual. The two groups are rivals for supremacy in Afghanistan and have frequently clashed with each other.
