Welcome back, we continue in Washington, where the US president huddled with military leaders to discuss options on retaliating against the alleged chemical attack in Syria. As Trump considers his next move, questions linger about his timetable. CGTN's Nathan King is at the White House.
NATHAN KING WASHINGTON "What would the US do and what is its policy on Syria still two big question marks here. We may or may not intervene. He had this to say a short time ago in the White House."
DONALD TRUMP US PRESIDENT "We are looking very very closely at all the situation and we'll see what happens. Now we have to make some further decisions. So they'll be made fairly soon."
Meanwhile, US officials say they are fairly certain that chemical weapons attack did occur.
JIM MATTIS US DEFENSE SECRETARY "I believe there was a chemical attack and we're looking for the evidence. The OPCW is the organization for the chemical weapons convention -- we're trying to get those inspectors in probably within the week. You know the challenges we face where Russia has six times in the U.N. rejected and made certain that we could not get investigators in."
NATHAN KING WASHINGTON Now of course if there is any strike, the big worry is that the US and Russia could come into direct conflict. Nathan King, CGTN, at the White House.
